ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. In ALS, motor neurons (nerve cells that control muscle cells) are gradually lost. As these motor neurons are lost, the muscles they control become weak and then nonfunctional, thus leading to muscle weakness, disability, and eventually death.
ALS is the most common form of motor neuron disease. There is currently no cure for ALS, and the lifespan of someone diagnosed with the disease is just 2-5 years after the onset of symptoms.
Until recently, ALS has not received the publicity as other diseases.
The story behind ALS ONE and their mission is local and compelling: ALS ONE is an unprecedented partnership of world-leading ALS researchers, clinicians and care providers who have united to advance critical research while providing essential equipment and care resources to those living with the disease now.
All Proceeds from our t-shirt and hoodie sales are donated to ALS ONE. In addition, a contribution for every clock, pub table and bar stool sold is made to ALS ONE as well.
